Racing Returns to Rockingham for New 2012 Season

MOTOR racing is back at Rockingham next weekend (May 19/20) and the curtain-raiser for the start of a bumper 2012 race season at the Northamptonshire circuit includes high-octane entertainment from the Pickup Truck Championship.

Tickets for the race weekend organised by the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC) are just £10 per adult  and admission for children aged 16 or under is FREE, so families have the chance to enjoy a whole day of quality entertainment at an affordable price.

Spectators can expect the usual full-throttle, bumper-to-bumper, adrenalin-fuelled racing from the Pickup Trucks with more than 20 trucks lining up on the grid. The drivers will battle over 20 laps on the UK’s only banked Oval, Europe’s fastest racing circuit.

In support of the trucks, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Great Britain returns to race on Rockingham’s 1.94-mile International Super Sportscar Circuit and the iconic supercars are sure to deliver some spectacular action.

The weekend also sees racing from ambitious young drivers in the Protyre Formula Renault BARC single seater series. These young chargers hope to go on to race in Formula 3 and someday get to Formula 1, so fans should come armed with their autograph books.

Finally the McMillan Motorsport Caterham Graduate Championship and the RAF MSA Race Challenge Series will again be fiercely contested and spectators will have plenty of opportunity to get close to the racing action.

All tickets include a grandstand seat with a unique panoramic view of the entire circuit, and access to the race paddock, allowing a unique insight into the hard work behind the scenes from the teams.

Rockingham prides itself on providing access to all motorsport fans, and for those who are registered disabled can apply for a FREE admission ticket for their carer. Written proof is required.

Ticket sales for the weekend close at midday next Friday (May 18), and can be booked online at www.rockingham.co.uk or via the ticket hotline on 01536 409794. Gates open at 9am.
