Coloni Barcelona GP2 qualifying review

QUALIFYING: P6 FOR ONIDI - COLETTI EIGHT FASTESTVery good performance for Scuderia Coloni in Barcelona: on the Spanish track both drivers qualified in the top ten, with Fabio Onidi posting the sixth fastest time with 1’31”167 and Stefano Coletti clinching P8 thanks to a 1’31”212. So Fabio and Stefano will start respectively from third and fourth row on the grid of tomorrow’s Feature Race, end everything is in place for a very good result.Onidi posted his best laptime in his first outing using soft tyres, taking a sixth place that nobody could beat in the following twenty minutes.Coletti, instead, had to cope with a minor gearbox issue that prevented him from making the most of his soft rubber. The team promptly solved the electronic glitch, but that meant that Stefano had to post his best time on the hardest compound available.

Paolo Coloni: “The first sessions on European soil have been positive as we were expecting, and both our drivers boasted a very good performance. Fabio has confirmed his stunning progression, while Stefano managed to post a very good laptime despite being hampered by that electronical issue. We were quick straight out of the box today, the ideal laps from our drivers in the Free Practice would have been good for first row in Qualifying and that shows that we have a great technical potential here in Barcelona. Now we are looking forward to tomorrow’s race, a very good result is in our reach”.
