Points for Johnny Blackshaw

Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw riding for Smiths Triumph a solid weekend in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship and finished in sixth position at the Snetterton 300 circuit.

After a couple of big crashes at Oulton Park and Donington Park it was important for Johnny to get a good result at Snetterton this weekend and get some Championship points in the bag. It was a confidence building weekend for Johnny and he struggled to find a good rhythm during qualifying and ended up in tenth position on the grid for the 12-lap race.

The youngster gained a brilliant start and was up to sixth after the opening lap and was soon locked in a four way battle for a podium position. Johnny made plenty of confident passes and was swapping positions on every lap moving him through to fourth place for a number of laps. Only 2.6 seconds separated the top six at the end of the race and the leading pack had a ten second lead over the chasing pack in seventh place.

Johnny - "This is the weekend I needed to get things back on track, I was a bit weary during practice and qualifying and that affected my grid position. The Smiths team worked really hard to make some changes and get things really good for the race. I got a mega start and was away with the front bunch they were all pushing really hard and it was good to be back in those race conditions running good times and with the leading pack. It's given me the confidence back that I needed and hopefully things now will keep moving forward for the remaining rounds of the year. I know I can get a podium I just need to dig deep and sure it will come. A big thanks must go to all at Smiths Triumph for their help at the weekend and roll on Knockhill."
