Vittorio Ghirelli joins Spa F2 test line-up

Kourosh Khani returns to complete 18 car entry list

Italian racer Vittorio Ghirelli will join today's (Tuesday) Formula Two testing line-up at Spa-Francorchamps, ahead of his debut during rounds seven and eight this weekend (22-24 June).

The 18-year-old joins the series after switching from racing with Comtec in Formula Renault 3.5 this year. Despite his age, he brings with him a wealth of single seater experience including two seasons in GP3 (2010 & 2011) securing three top 10 finishes, as well as Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup, Italian F3 and the F3 Brazil Open.

At the end of 2011 he experienced his first taste of the Williams designed F2 car during winter testing at Barcelona, where against a highly competitive field he ended fourth overall on the opening day as well topping the second session. Earlier this year he sampled GP2 in pre-season testing before joining the FR3.5 series, picking up a best of 12th from five races.

Meanwhile, Iranian driver Kourosh Khani returns to the series after missing the last rounds at the Nűrburgring due to visa issues. The two additions complete an 18-car line-up for the official test session at the legendary Belgian F1 track.

Drivers will have five separate sessions (timetable below), with overboost available in session four and full coverage, including live timing, on the F2 website – www.formulatwo.com
