Lynch resumes Swift Sport Rallycross title challenge at Mallory
Tony Lynch is targeting a return to the top of the title standings when the Swift Sport Rallycross Championship returns to action this weekend for the latest round of the season at Mallory Park. The event will see the Suzuki series once again running alongside the Monster Energy MSA British Rallycross Championship, with Lucas Oil Team Geriatric driver Tony seeking to overturn a one-point deficit to rival Johny Bean in the standings.Having taken one victory so far this season at Knockhill, Tony will now aim to secure win number two as Mallory returns to the schedule having been missing last year. However, fighting for the top step of the podium will be far from easy at the Leicestershire venue, with Tonys arch rival and defending champion Dave Bellerby making a one-off return in the car usually raced by his daughter Paige. After a month-long break since Nutts Corner, I cant wait to get back in the car this weekend at Mallory, Tony said, and the fact that Dave is going to be out for the first time this season makes things even more interesting. He isnt in contention for the championship and it is important to focus on outscoring Johny to try and reclaim the points lead, but it will be good to compete against Dave again after the battles we had during the previous two seasons. As a team, we were a bit disappointed not to get a victory at Nutts Corner last time out after some mechanical issues hit our hopes, but that has only made me more determined to get my second win of the season this weekend. The boys have worked hard as usual to get the car ready for the weekend and I know that a maximum score of victory and fastest time of the day will give me the points lead regardless of what Johny does. That is the target and hopefully well be in the championship lead again when the weekend is over. e.
