Seventh for Johnny Blackshaw at Brands Hatch GP

Accident Advice Solicitors supported rider Johnny Blackshaw riding for Smiths Triumph secured seventh position at round nine of the Metzeler National Superstock Championship at the Brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend. The Smiths Triumph rider struggled to get a good set up on his bike during the qualifying session and despite being only one second off pole he ended up in 12th position on the grid for the 12-lap race.

He worked hard throughout the race to try and bridge the gap and run with the front runners but with him starting on the third row this hindered his progress to be able to secure a top result. The Smiths of Gloucester team got his Triumph set up and working for the race and he was setting some consistently fast race times but just was not able to bridge the gap to the leaders.

Johnny - "I had a really bad practice session but I think that was more me than the bike but then I struggled with set up for qualifying which is why I ended up on the third row. I got a good start but I lost time down the straights because of my size and because I had a bad qualifying I left myself with a lot of work to do. The Smiths boys got the Triumph working really well for the race and it felt great so at least we'll have a good set up for when we come back to Brands in October. I know if I'd managed to qualify better things would have been different in the race and hope we can get back on the pace at Cadwell Park."
