WORKINGTON duo Adam Roynon and Rene Bach are celebrating Premier League Pairs success after triumphing at Somerset on Friday.The duo got the better of Scunthorpes Josh Auty and Thomas Jorgensen in the Final, with Auty coming to grief in the initial staging of the decider.Roynon was a late call-up for the meeting as his Comets team-mate Richard Lawson, who was due to ride, suffered a back strain at Peterborough the previous evening.Hosts Somerset reached the semi-finals but lost out to Workington, whilst Leicester missed out to Scunthorpe in the other semi.

STOKE host the National League Fours at Loomer Road on Sunday with boss Malcolm Vasey hoping his side can emerge from a tough week with victory.Simon Lambert departed the Potters to join Premier League Rye House and Ben Reade is on the injury listbut Vasey is still optimistic of a good performance.He said: We see some cracking racing here on a regular basis and I am sure that the prize on offer will add that extra bit of spice to the occasion both on the track and on the terraces.This is the meeting we need to get right and make any home track advantage that we have count. Every team has riders that can win races, and that means potentially riders from the stronger teams can drop points.

PATRICK Hougaard will defend the Pride of the Midlands title as Leicester stage their major individual event on Sunday afternoon.Five members of the current Lions team will be hoping to provide a home winner, and the line-up also includes top Premier League performers Sam Masters and Ryan Fisher along with Polish star Adam Skornicki.Leicester co-promoter Alan Jones said: There is a real mixture of talent on show ranging from those who are on an upward curve in their career to those at the top so the chemistry should make for an absorbing twenty heats of speedway. We are pleased that Patrick accepted an invitation to return to defend the title he won last year and there should be plenty of competition to keep him on his toes.

RYE House No.1 Charlie Gjedde will remain on the sidelines this week as he continues to recover from concussion.Gjedde is still suffering the effects of a recent crash at Leicester, and his place for the Rockets in Mondays return fixture against the Lions will be taken by Josh Grajczonek.The home side also have Jason Garrity ruled out having sustained a hand injury when guesting for Mildenhall against Dudley last weekend.Manager John Sampford said: When I spoke to him, Charlie is hopefuland no more than that at this stage, given that we are talking concussion hereto be fit to return the following weekend.
