First Stock 600 Podium for Collier and Vancraft Triumph

Metzeler Superstock 600s

It was a fantastic weekend for the Vancraft Triumph team in the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship at Cadwell Park as they secured their first podium of the season with their rider Joe Collier. Joe has been chipping away all season and his hard work finally paid off at Cadwell Park and he gained a great second place. Joe looked strong all weekend throughout practice and qualifying and was able to put the Vancraft Triumph on the second row of the grid in fourth place for the scheduled 12-lap race. He got a solid start and held his grid position at the end of lap one, he was battling with Johnny Blackshaw and was soon through to third, race leader Jake Dixon crashed out promoting Joe to second place and he fending off the chasing pack to secure a great first podium after the race was cut short and red flagged on lap nine.

Joe Collier - "I'm made up that I've finally got a podium in this Championship, it feels like it has been a long time coming but well worth it. It's been a good weekend from start to finish and to reward the hard working Vancraft team for the efforts is great. I've pushed hard all year, maybe sometimes too hard but just had to keep my nerve this weekend and ride a solid race. I really enjoyed the whole thing and would like to thank my team, all the guys at Vancraft Triumph and my personal sponsors Simon and Steven Priestnal at Autoworld Group. I can't wait for Donington in a couple of weeks' time now."

It was also a good weekend in the British Supersport class for youngster Josh Caygill, he gained two solid 16th place finishes in the Supersport races. After a steady qualifying Josh only managed to qualify in 23rd place but was able to make big progress during the races and was unlucky to just miss out on the points both times. He moved through the pack in the first race and made some strong passes and also was setting some good consistent lap times.

Josh - "This weekend was definitely better for the races and even though I struggled to get into a rhythm during the qualifying session I felt much happier in both races. I'm a little bit nervous at the start of each race and struggle to settle down. Once I calm myself down and get into a good flow my lap times start to improve. My starts are pretty good and I was making some good moves throughout both races and just needed a couple more laps in both. I felt I made some good steps in the right direction and for me I think a lot is about my confidence and this weekend has helped that a lot."
