JMW Motorsport,Jonny Cocker and James Walker take second in the British Round of the 2012 FIA WEC

In their second home outing in as many races, it was another podium finish for JMW Motorsport taking 2nd as they made a guest appearance in the British round of the FIA WEC held at Silverstone. With both drivers, James Walker and Jonny Cocker, having birthdays over the weekend their superb outing was undoubtedly the best way to celebrate.

From the onset of the weekend the team showed a competitive pace to put them in the heart of the GTE Pro action which was boasting a world class field.

Qualifying on Saturday saw James place the JMW Ferrari 458 2nd on the grid.

Sunday saw a bumper crowd of 35,000 visit the Northamptonshire circuit for the 6 Hours race which provided them with no end of entertain and not least the GTE class.

For JMW Motorsport the race ran smoothly, with no-one worrying as the team ran in fourth for the first stint as all were confident in the car's superb fuel consumption, excellent Dunlop tyre wear and team strategy. With relative drama free stints for both drivers there was one moment of held breath when in James' second stint he was clipped by an LMP2 car which, whilst not causing lasting damage, frustratingly did see James lose a place in class. However, the team's strategy and the flawless running of car soon saw the team bounce back to take 2nd place to much appreciated support from the spectators.

Jonny summed up his race noting "You almost forget what you are doing! The whole package just works together so nicely. It is really good for us to have a benchmark of where we are as a team and drivers. The whole weekend couldn't have gone better for us. I am really thrilled about the result."

The sentiment was echoed by James who described his weekend as "I was able to enjoy driving a perfect race car on one of my favourite tracks. We enjoyed being in the heart of the battle and for us to turn up and beat many of the regulars is a fantastic feeling."
