Giancarlo Fisichella,Maserati Quattroporte, ready to challenge Tonio Liuzzi, Mercedes C63 AMG

THE ITALIAN ACE IS READY TO EXCITE HIS HOME FANS AT VALLELUNGA IN AN HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED SUPERSTARS DEBUT

The countdown for the upcoming SUPERSTARS round at Vallelunga is about to be over as there are just three days to go before the action starts. While Teams and Drivers prepare to be back on-track, the series is ready welcome a brand-new star: Giancarlo Fisichella. The Rome-based racer will be lined-up by Guido Bonfiglio and his Swiss Team aboard a Maserati Quattroporte, the same car that cruised to title at Vallelunga in 2011 in the hands of Andrea Bertolini. Fisichella, who just scored a great win in the World Endurance GTE Pro Championship race held last week at Al Sakhir, is ready to challenge current series leader Tonio Liuzzi, fielded by CAAL Racing aboard a Mercedes C63 AMG racecar.

Both drivers told us what they expect from Race Day and how they will approach this weekend's challenge...

"SUPERSTARS is definitely an interesting championship involving a lot of strong drivers and car brands - told Giancarlo Fisichella - everything will be new for me, except for the track which I know really well. I will try to do my best. The Maserati proved competitive this season and I look forward to get a good chemistry with the car straight out of the box. There is a good friendship between me and Liuzzi. I'm aware that he is fighting for the championship but I will be focusing on my own race and aim for victory. The SUPERSTARS format is different than the one I'm used to in GT, but surely we will have a lot of fun."

"I haven't been driving in the last couple of months but I definitely want to win this championship - told Tonio Liuzzi - I need to score as many points as I possible and keep the Audis at bay, although Mercedes did a phenomenal job and we will line-up with a suspension upgrade. I am also  particularly motivated by the arrival of my friend Giancarlo Fisichella, who will contribute to increase the already high talent level of the series."

The SUPERSTARS show will be available to fans for free. By clicking on www.eurosuperstars.com, they will be able to reserve a FREE TICKET for the circuit's grandstand. The supporters of the FG GROUP-promoted championships will also have the chance to cheer for their favourite drivers at home by tuning on RAI SPORT 2, while a wide international TV coverage will also be available. Race 1 of GTSPRINT is scheduled for 9:00 AM on Sunday, followed by Race 1 of SUPERSTARS at 11:15. Race 2 of GTSPRINT will be taking-off at 14:05, while the weekend will come to its grand finale with the running of SUPERSTARS Race 2 at 16:15.
