Pickett Racing to start third at Long Beach‏

Muscle Milk Pickett Racing didn't get the outcome they wanted in Long Beach on Friday during qualifying for Saturday's American Le Mans Series race at the historic street circuit, placing third on the grid.

After posting the second fastest time in the lone practice session earlier that day, Lucas Luhr took to the track at the end of day for qualifying.

The German initially sat on the provisional pole for the first part of the session but despite improving his time to one minute 14.004 seconds, he wound up in third place by the time the checkered flag had fallen, behind the Rebellion and Dyson cars.

Luhr and his teammate Graf will be back on track tomorrow for the second race of the 2013 American Le Mans Series season. The green flag will drop at 4:30 pm local time with tape-delayed coverage on ABC Sunday, April 21 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The race will be streamed live on ESPN3 and ALMS.com.

Muscle Milk Quotes

Lucas Luhr - driver #6 Muscle Milk HPD ARX-03a"It wasn't a good qualifying session for us, being that far behind. I can't really explain why, maybe our car didn't respond well to the Indy car rubber on the track, we've experienced that in the past. That said, I'm confident that we will be more competitive tomorrow in the race. I pushed as much as I could but we had a little too much understeer and on a street circuit that isn't very good."
