Britain-bound Burdon excited to tackle a childhood favourite in NASCAR Touring Series

American Speedfest Promotion, featuring Scorpus Racing

Josh Burdon will be looking to maintain momentum in his Forza Motorsport Chevrolet SS when the Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series headlines the American Speedfest at Brands Hatch for round three of the championship this weekend, 7-9th June 2013.

This may be the first time that the 20-year-old from Hobart (AUSTRALIA) has been to the 2.43 Mile (3.9 km) track in person, but it is one track that he has raced countless times from his family home.

I am very excited about racing at Brands Hatch, said Burdon, it was a track I use to play 24/7 as a kid on my Xbox, so it is actually a bit surreal for me knowing I am going to be competing there.

Im really enjoying my time in Europe, and learning French language and customs has been a good challenge, but it will be nice to be in an English speaking country, even if only for a few days.

Burdon goes into the round with a 28-point lead in the Open Class, and whilst he knows his opening rounds have no doubt made him a marked man, he also knows that they are still a long way from the end.

Winning three of four races changes nothing, as far as I believe, all it does it puts a big target on my head for fellow competitors, said Burdon, which is good because it keeps me 100% focused on making sure I stay ahead.

I am not approaching this weekend any differently to my first two rounds, said Burdon, I don't really feel any added pressure as we are only about to hit the half way point of the season, so there is a lot of water to go under the bridge yet.

The Euro Racecar NASCAR Touring Series will hit the track on Friday for two practice sessions per class with Qualifying and 100-lap races on both Saturday and Sunday.

It is a very short lap, with the pace around 50 seconds a lap, so I am expect racing to be very close which will make it important to qualify well and attack from the start.
