Two weeks ago we were not even sure if our restored car would even be at Silverstone Classic but after burning a lot of midnight oil we managed to get the car completed on the Monday before the event. This meant that we would have 2 cars in the Piper Heidsieck International Trophy for pre 66 GT cars. The first car would be the class winning 1964 901 and the second would be the freshly prepared Signal Red 1965 911.

The sun was shining on the Friday for qualifying and both cars were running well. The session was tense with both cars consitantly lapping in the 2.41's. With 5 minutes to go Nigel Greensall in the red 65 car found some clear track and put in a very respectable 2.39.28 putting him 45th on the grid and 4th in class. John Young finished just 8 tenths and 2 spaces behind him in 47th on the grid and 5th in class.

With 20 minutes to go before the start of the race the weather turned and the heavens opened. Although we relished the chance of a wet race so we could mix it with the more powerful cars, the conditions were treturous at best. The monsoon rain meant that the first 3 laps of the race were run behind the safety car before the pack was released to race. Both the cars began to work their way through the field and were quickly 1st and 2nd in class. After routine and trouble free pit stops Nigel in the red car was 13th and John in the 64 car was 16th. The rain was still falling heavily and both cars contined their climb up the field. With a few laps to go Nigel was up to 10th and John was up to 12th and catching him quickly. The chequered flag fell with Nigel finishing 9th overall and first in class with John only 7 tenths and 1 place behind him in 10th out of 62 cars that qualified for the race. An amazing result for Historika, Nigel and John taking a class one two and finishing ahead of many more powerful and faster Jaguar E Type's and AC Cobra's.
