Bob de Jong wins Dutch Rally Championship with MML Sports

Following second place on this weekend's Euregio Rally for Bob de Jong, the young Dutchman has clinched the 2013 Dutch National Rally Championship, at the wheel of his MML Sports-supplied Mitsubishi Lancer WRC.Having won the first two stages and led the event initially, de Jong, partnered by co-driver Kees Hagman made a rare error and dropped time on the third stage of the event, slipping back to second place overall. However, as this would be sufficient to secure the 2013 title, he opted to maintain this position to safeguard his first national title in only his fourth year of competition. As he and Hagman reached the finish of the event, de Jong dedicated his first championship title to his late father, Bert, another accomplished rally driver and friend of MML Sports, who died in the summer.Commenting, MML Sports Managing Director John Easton, said; "I would like to offer our congratulations to Bob for this superb achievement. To go from nothing to national champion in four years is an amazing achievement and I think hints at far more to come in the future."I am proud that MML Sports was able to provide Bob with what turned out to be the perfect tool for the job. His speed and understanding has improved with every event and every kilometre throughout the year and took a major step forward when he tested and subsequently converted to the latest specification of suspension from the season mid-point."We look forward to supporting Bob as he moves forward in his rallying career and to celebrating more success with him in the future."
