Brighton Speed Trials saved

The future of the country’s oldest motorsports event looks secure after more than 12,000 people signed a petition calling on Brighton and Hove City Council to reinstate the Trials.

Brighton Speed Trials was first held in Madeira Drive, Brighton in 1905, the event was cancelled in 2013 amid safety concerns following the death of a competitor the previous year.

The Brighton Speed Trials is an exhilarating, action-packed day for spectators and participants alike. Over two hundred cars and motor bikes line up to take a timed run down Madeira Drive reaching high speeds.There are numerous categories including road cars, race cars and drag bikes who compete to win the fastest in their class. A top six run-off to find the fastest car and bike brings the day to a dramatic close..

It has been confirmed that the event will be held this year on September 6.

Among the supporters for the Trials were Sir Stirling Moss, local bestselling author Peter James, Tiff Needell of Fifth Gear, Nick Mason of Pink Floyd and Top Gear’s The Stig.
