Racecar Supports A Different Kind Of Horsepower

Racecar's pet charity, The Racehorse Sanctuary currently based at Bridge Hill Farm, Sussex, is in a real race against time to find accommodation to rent, or secure the funding required to enable the Sanctuary to purchase alternative premises for the needy horses in their care.

Life has been difficult for most animal charities over the past year but for the Racehorse Sanctuary, 2014 has started under a particularly dark cloud, Despite working unbelievably hard to make Bridge Hill a forever home for the horses in their care, the grass is being pulled out from under their hooves with the sale of the premises, a devastating blow for all at the charity.

An enforced move of home could not have come at a worse time for the Sanctuary, which is currently overwhelmed by calls regarding abandoned and neglected thoroughbred horses, incredible animals which deserve a happy and healthy retirement after their racing careers have ended.

The Racehorse Sanctuary is desperately trying to raise the much needed funds to purchase another 'forever' home for the resident horses and is hosting a Charity Raceday at Fontwell Park on 23rd February. The Totepool National Spirit Hurdle is the most prestigious race in the racing calendar at Fontwell attacting over 4,000 racegoers. The Sanctuary has chosen this popular event and local venue to launch The Racehorse Sanctuary Just Giving Text Donation campaign.

The Sanctuary is hosting a charity lunch and auction featuring many 'money can't buy' lots, the auction to be conducted by Colin Brown, former jockey of the famous grey Desert Orchid. Why not join them for the perfect Sunday out with friends or family for seven top class races throughout the afternoon at the only figure of eight jumps course in the UK. In doing so you will be helping to secure the future of these wonderful ex-racehorses.

Tickets and for the event cost 85 (including a donation to the Registered Charity) and are available from http://www.fontwellpark.co.uk
