Arjun Maini completes Lanan F4 driver line up

Reigning champions Lanan Racing have confirmed that Indian racer Arjun Maini will complete their driver line up in the 2014 BRDC F4 Championship, alongside George Russell and Struan Moore.

The 16-year-old was the winner of the Force India F1 Team Academy’s ‘One From a Billion Hunt’ in 2011 which gained him support from the team during his campaign in Super One karting in 2012, as well as tuition from karting legend Terry Fullerton.

He ended 2013 by finishing second overall in the JK Tyre Racing Series in India, which included two victories at the Buddh International F1 venue. He was also the winner of the Super 6 Series in Malaysia, driving Formula BMW machinery at the Sepang circuit.

Prior to stepping into cars in 2013, Maini enjoyed a successful karting career which included being classified fifth overall in the ROK Cup International Final in Lonato in 2012, against 72 drivers from over 20 countries while also participating in the WSK Euro and Master series in the KF Category. In the last five years, Maini has secured over 80 podium finishes including 22 wins.

“I’m really excited to be racing in the BRDC F4 Championship in 2014,” Maini enthused. “I’m really looking forward to racing with Lanan, they are a fantastic group of passionate and determined people who have already shown they are a top team in this championship. I will concentrate on doing my very best for the team and can’t wait to get started.”

Lanan Racing Team Principal Graham Johnson is delighted to complete his team’s driver line up for the 2014 season: “We’re really looking forward to working with Arjun this season and are confident he will work well with George Russell and Struan Moore helping to push each other. We’ve got a busy pre-season testing campaign lined up which will allow Arjun to get up to speed and learn the UK circuits. We have done 2 days testing with him and already he is showing fantastic pace, I think we may have another star on our hands.”

17 drivers from nine different nationalities have announced their F4 participation this year with 21 seats confirmed, leaving just five vacancies on the grid ahead of the first round on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on 26-27 April.
