Stunning Pro-Am podium for Villorba Corse Ferrari 458 in BES debut

Gai and Rizzoli storm back to second place in their category despite a drawback in their first pitstop

Villorba Corse Blancpain Endurance Series challenge starts with a thrilling comeback and a crucial podium. At Monza, in the first round of the championship, the young crew formed by Francesco Castellacci, Stefano Gai and Andrea Rizzoli clinched a Pro-Am category second place (ninth overall) behind the wheel of their Ferrari 458 GT3. Looking at this first season in the Blancpain GT Series, it is a very important result to the Italian team led by Raimondo Amadio, whose 458 is also the first supercar from Maranello on finish line despite an unpredictable loss of time during the first mandatory pitstop for driver change.

After a very good start from third Gai showed great competitiveness in the first stint and at lap 31 he left the Villorba 458 to teammate Rizzoli who is immediately slowed by a problem with a blocked wheel during the simultaneous tyre change. On his stint Rizzoli recovered from 24th up to 12th and he was back in the pits at lap 63. Then Castellacci completed the job. He grabbed Pro-Am Cup third position at lap 84 and clinched second place with only four laps to go just a few minutes later.
