After several fights and overtaking #1 Villorba Corse Ferrari 458 clinched a spectacular second place of Super GT class (fourth overall) in race-1. Sunday's race 2 at 12:55
Hard fights and spectacular overtaking featured in Scuderia Villorba Corse's race-1 in the third round of the International GT Open at Jerez de la Frontera.
Behind the wheel of the Ferrari 458 Andrea Montermini and Niccolò Schirò scored very important points for their championship clinching a stunning second place in the Super GT class (fourth overall) despite 25-second handicap paid during the driver change because of their three podium finishes in a row in previous races.
After such a brilliant result from the Villorba duo, Spanish race weekend will end on Sunday, when Schirò will start race-2 from the third row on the grid. The 60-minute race will start at 12:55 and will be broadcasted live on www.gtopen.net (clicking on WEB TV) and on TV channels Motors TV (Europe, live at 12:55; 11:55 in the UK), RaiSport2 (Italy, deferred at 23:10), Canal+ (Spain, live), Teledeporte RTVE (Spain, deferred at 22:15), Sport TV (Portugal, live at 11:55 on TV1), DigiSport (Hungary and Romania deferred at 18:10 on DigiSport2) and at to be confirmed times on BT Sport 2 (UK), Poverkhnost Sport TV 1 (Russia), Sport TV (Turkey) and DigiSport (Czech Republic and Slovakia).
“It was a great Saturday - says Raimondo Amadio, Team Principal -. We had a very high handicap time to pay and so this is the best result we could achieve. We also tried to preserve the car and after a great start from Andrea in the second half of the race Niccolò, despite no tire change, managed everything well and did a great job. Race-1 shows our improvements again. We are very happy with this result and the whole team is looking forward to confirm our pace in race-2 despite an even higher handicap.”
