Blancpain Sprint Series racer Daniel Lloyd is relishing his return to action in the ultra-competitive sportscar category at Zandvoort in The Netherlands next weekend, 5th/6th July, some seven weeks on from a season-best performance at Brands Hatch in May.Piloting a McLaren MP4-12C GT3 for the Bhai Tech Racing team, his maiden campaign in fully fledged endurance style racing, 22-year-old Daniel and team-mate Sten Pentus have been making excellent progress and head into round three of the Sprint Series bidding for their first top 10 finish.In the previous round on home soil at Brands Hatch, the pairing made a marked improvement from the season-opening event at Nogaro in France and they were unfortunate to miss out on chalking-up their first points of the year. Daniel impressed with a star drive in the Qualification Race, where the No.61 McLaren finished in 10th position, and went on to place 12th in the main race.“We’re feeling positive going into Zandvoort”, said the Huddersfield sportsman, “We had two test days out at the Slovakia Ring last week, it was good to get back behind the wheel of the McLaren and good to have some time in the car after such a big break in the calendar since Brands.“The top 10 has to be the aim next weekend. We had the pace to be in the points last time out so hopefully we can do that at Zandvoort. I’d love to try and get in the top five or six but we’ll have to see where we are after practice and qualifying.”During the break between ‘Sprint Series’ events, of course, the former Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholar joined the Beechdean Aston Martin Racing Team for a debut outing in the sister Blancpain Endurance Series at Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit where he shone in the three-hour spectacular.Returning to the 60-minute race format next weekend, Daniel is chomping at the bit to be back in competitive action and relishing the prospect of racing at the renowned 2.7-mile Dutch track for the first time.“I’ve never been to Zandvoort before but the track looks awesome, I’m really looking forward to racing there”, he added, “Blancpain Endurance was fantastic but I’m looking forward just as much to being back in the Sprint Series, you’re properly flat out there start-to-finish and the two race format is more what I’ve been used to. Hopefully it’ll be a good weekend.”Following free practice at Zandvoort on Friday, 4th July, qualifying and the qualification race will take place on Saturday, 5th July, at 08.00 (UK time) and 12.45 (UK time). On Sunday, 6th July, warm-up will begin at 08.00 (UK time) with the main race starting at 10.45 (UK time).
