Carrera Cup GB racers join Porsche Supercup grid‏

Four drivers from the Porsche Carrera Cup GB will step up to contest the British round of the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Silverstone this weekend (4-6 July).Current championship leader Josh Webster, current Pro-Am1 leader Karl Leonard, Pro-Am1 contender Graeme Mundy and Pro-Am2 front-runner Kelvin Fletcher will all take the opportunity to race at the biggest event on the British motor sport calendar as the Supercup race supports the British Grand Prix.Widely regarded as the most competitive single-make GT championships in the world, the 2014 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup reaches round four at Silverstone with Kuba Giermaziak (Poland) currently at the head of the points. Challenging for the title is former Carrera Cup racer Ben Barker, who finished runner-up in the 2012 Carrera Cup GB. He recently returned to the championship with Parr Motorsport to win round seven of 2014, the high-profile Le Mans 24-hour support race.The four Carrera Cup GB racers will run with their regular teams as they compete in front of more than 100,000 fans on Sunday morning. Webster and Fletcher will race for Redline Racing, Leonard for Team Parker Racing and Mundy for In2 Racing. For Webster, Fletcher and Mundy it will be their first experience of contesting a Supercup race.In 2014, the Carrera Cup GB features the same type-991 911 GT3 Cup as the Porsche Supercup, with the only difference in the cars being a special silencer system to meet the more stringent noise limits for UK national racing.

After free practice at 16.45 on Friday, qualifying for the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup at Silverstone starts at 11.25 on Saturday morning, with the race on Sunday at 10.30.
