Laverty and Lowes join GRANDys duo on track

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki racers Eugene Laverty and Alex Lowes become instructors for two days when they travel to Hungary to assist team partner Suzuki GRANDys duo at the Pannonia-ring later this month.

Laverty and Lowes, alongside Team Manager Paul Denning and their Yoshimura-powered GSX-R race machines, will be on-hand at the Hungarian circuit for the GRANDys duo two-day track event organised in association with Suzuki Motor Poland. Providing tips and assessing the skills of the participants taking part, they will also be demonstrating their racing abilities and instructing on track aboard Suzuki GSX-R street bikes, including a race-replica GSX-R1000 available from Crescent Motorcycles in Verwood.

Located approximately 200kms west of the Hungarian capital of Budapest, and 130kms south of Vienna, the Pannonia-ring is a challenging yet beautiful circuit. Comprising 18 corners throughout its 4740m layout, the 11 right and seven left-hand turns and 700m straight will provide ample opportunity to put the Suzuki machines through their paces while the qualified instructors and Superbike racers will help the attendees hone their skills as the two days unfold.

Voltcom Crescent Suzuki will be at the Hungarian circuit from August 26th-27th before travelling to Jerez, in Spain, as the eni FIM Superbike World Championship returns from its six-week summer break on September 7th.

Eugene Laverty:

“I’ve never ridden the Pannonia-ring but I did visit in 2001 to watch my elder brothers Michael and John riding in the European Championship. It’s a fantastic circuit and I am looking forward to learning my way around. I’ve always enjoyed teaching and passing on my knowledge to riders that are keen to learn so it should be a fun experience for everyone involved.”

Alex Lowes:

“I’m really looking forward to the GRANDys duo event. I’ve never been to Hungary and it looks like an impressive track. It will be good to get out on the Suzuki, learn the circuit and help the riders taking part develop their skills. It’s also a great opportunity to spend some time with the GRANDys duo team and thank them for their support this season.”

Andy Meklau:

“For many years, together with GRANDys duo, our aim has been to improve rider knowledge using our race experience. I am glad to see Alex and Eugene joining us at the Pannonia event. We have all achieved World SBK podiums, so I am sure riding with us on the track will be a great experience for the participants of the Suzuki GRANDys duo event. I hope everyone will remember their time here for years!”

Jacek Grandys – GRANDys duo CEO & owner:

“I‘m delighted to welcome Eugene, Alex and the Voltcom Crescent Suzuki team to the Pannonia-Ring for our event this month. This is another step in our co-operation, and more importantly provides the unique opportunity for fans from Middle Europe to meet with top WSBK riders. Training with such excellent riders will certainly be a great experience. From my side I can promise many attractions and unforgettable impressions!”
