Full steam ahead for ATS Formula 3 Cup part two

The second half of the ATS Formula 3 Cup season promises to be exciting, since Markus Pommer, who won the half-time title, will be under a lot of pressure from his competitors who also strive to claim the championship title. Briton Sam MacLeod, Indy Dontje from the Netherlands and Nabil Jeffri from Malaysia are in for the battle. Behind the top four, a tight grid is competing for valuable points. The young talents did not sit back and relax over the summer. They continued improving their performances in other racing series, in order to put in 100 percent again at the start of the second half of the season at Nürburgring this weekend.

Team Motopark's Nabil Jeffri claimed a podium finish in one of the major events on the calendar, the Masters of Formula 3 at Zandvoort at the beginning of July. The British Formula 3 round at Spa-Francorchamps and several races in the respective home countries of the drivers contesting the ATS Formula 3 Cup followed. Markus Pommer battled for more podium finishes in the Auto GP, and Swiss Thomas Amweg is well on course to secure the title in the Remus Formel 3 Pokal. The races at Nürburgring this weekend will also mark a debut of sorts for the young talents. For the first time, the automobile layout of the NGK chicane will be used instead of the motorcycle variation. The turns will be considerably narrower and provide better opportunities for overtaking, which will surely increase the excitement at the racing weekend at Nürburgring.

Battle for the titleThe young drivers contesting the ATS Formula 3 Cup have a chance to win three titles in total: the championship title, the title of the best rookie and the Ravenol Media Award. Dutchman Indy Dontje from Team Lotus is currently leading the Rookie ranking. The Oschersleben-based talent factory is also at the top of the team ranking. The Ravenol Media Award requires focussed work away from the track. The driver who realises the most creative media-related project will win the award. There are no limits to the imagination. A high-profile jury will pick the winner. He will not only receive 5,000 Euros and a trophy but also demonstrates that he has taken a huge step towards becoming the often-mentioned “overall package”.

The ATS Formula 3 Cup in the mediaThe starting grid of the 2014 ATS Formula 3 Cup season includes drivers from all over the world, who are eager to complete their general qualification for motorsports. The event at Nürburgring will mark the fifth of eight racing weekends in the German Formula 3. Live timing and a live stream will be available worldwide at www.formel3.de for all races of the ATS Formula 3 Cup within the support programme of the ADAC GT Masters. In addition, TV stations Sport 1 and Kabel 1 will broadcast highlights of the racing weekends a few days later.
