Flashman hopes to impress at Rockingham Ginetta Junior Championship

Young autistic racing driver Flashman Finneran has his sights set on a strong pair of points scoring finishes when the Ginetta Junior Championship heads for Rockingham for the eighth meeting of the year. The rookie racer from Newmarket will continue to run with Tollbar Racing for the weekend having made an impressive start to life with the team during the most recent event of the year at Knockhill.Although unable to achieve his pre-event goal of securing a maiden top ten finish, Flashman showed a noticeable improvement in pace over the course of the Scottish race weekend, posting a quickest lap in race two that was comparable with his rivals towards the sharp end of the grid.Flashman’s challenge this weekend will be aided by the fact he has previous experience of the Rockingham circuit, having taken part in a media event with Ginetta earlier this month.Providing a completely different challenge to Knockhill, Flashman will hope to make that experience pay as he bids to make his move forwards through the Junior field.“Knockhill was a difficult circuit to learn but I feel quite confident about Rockingham,” he said. “I’ve been to the circuit before and I really enjoyed it. The oval section is really quick as you are flat out, but the infield is quite narrow and twisty, so it’s more difficult.“In the last round, I think my pace was a lot better and I’m hoping to be closer to the other drivers this weekend.“I’m hoping to get my best results of the season and my big aim is to try and finish inside the top ten for the first time.”Flashman currently sits 18th in the championship standings, with a brace of 14th place finishes at Oulton Park being the best results of his rookie season to date.
