Forne, Fontes close on Radical European Masters title heading to Spa

Speed Factory Racing drivers Álvaro Fontes and Toni Forné took a step closer to the title among SR3 contenders in the Radical European Masters after the rounds held at Hungaroring and Silverstone. The Iberian duo hope to further improve on track at Spa.

The Belgian track is demanding and challenging through the Ardennes forest. Fontes and Forné have had an extremely positive summer, as their results first at Hungaroring and later at Silverstone allowed them to stand out as leaders in the drivers´ standings. Belgium could clarify the end of the season, scheduled at Monza and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

“We go there with great expectation. A glance at the entry list shows how strong our rivals will be once again. We want to focus on securing our title chances and doing well at Spa-Francorchamps. Personally I am looking forward to finishing on the podium at this track, as it is classic in motorsport”, Fontes explains.

His teammate Forné adds “we are in key moment. Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most thrilling racing tracks all around the world. We raced there back in 2011 and 2012. It is one of the longest and ultra-fast venues throughout the season, and set-up always play an important role. Cars need to work with low-downforce on its long straights and at Eau Rouge”. The driver from Catalonia points out that “we have a clear advantage over other teams, but anyway we shall try to do the best we can for extending our lead in the SR3 class”.

Two free practice sessions on Friday precede weekend´s qualifying session. Race one is scheduled on Saturday at 12.40, and Race two takes place at 9.50 on Sunday.
