Tough Donington weekend for Jake Dixon

18-year-old Jake Dixon from Dover made the best of a tough weekend on the Appleyard Doodson Macadam Yamaha this weekend at round nine of the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, Jake gained an 11th and seventh in the two races over the weekend at Donington Park.

Sadly on Friday Jake was plagued with more bad luck with his Yamaha and suffered a technical problem in both free practice sessions and he was only able to complete a handful of laps and so it was difficult to find a set up on the bike for qualifying on the Saturday. Saturday was his first opportunity to set up the bike on a circuit he has never raced in the Supersport class after missing the round last year through injury.

Jake ended up qualifying 11th for the opening sprint race on Saturday but with little track time Jake had to fight to try and hold his position at the end of the 10-lap race. His mechanics worked hard through the night to find a better set up for the main feature race on Sunday and starting from 12th and avoiding a pile up just after the start, Jake was able to get his head down, complete his best lap times of the weekend and finish in seventh position, he is still lying in eighth place in the Championship standings.

Jake Dixon - "It was another troublesome weekend for the team and maybe just some bad luck has come our way but once again the team worked as hard as they could to get me out on track for both races. It was tough using qualifying to set up the bike as I was a day behind everyone else; we did the best of what we could.

Racing is always a tough sport and obviously there are good and bad weekends, I've had a few problems in recent weekends but it makes me more adamant and determined to want to go out there and secure some strong results. I was feeling really confident before these few issues we have had and I hope I can run up near the front end at the three remaining races in the Championship. As they say things can only get better and I won't give up trying as I still want that podium and would love to win a race this season.

Thank you to all my personal sponsors for sticking by me once again and I hope to repay them with some strong results again soon."
