The FIA World Touring Car Championship, WTCC, is preparing for the final four rounds of the 2014 season that will take place on Asian soil with the next two taking place on consecutive weekends. After a two month break from racing with a few testing sessions thrown in to assist in their preparations, Tiago Monteiro and Honda are ready and excited for the races ahead.
The coming weekend, the 4th and 5th of October at the Goldenport Park circuit in Beijing will be the first visit for drivers and cars after building was completed in 2011. Instead of feeling apprehensive ahead of his debut on this track, Tiago has increased motivation and is eager for the weekend to get underway... "It's a new track for everyone and I like new challenges. Due to some additional work over the two month break, we come to China with some new developments on the Honda Civic that should give us some more performance. I firmly believe that our work will bear fruit," the Portuguese driver explained.
Currently fourth in the Championship, the best of the Honda drivers and non-Citroen racers, Tiago does not rule out the possibility of moving up to third: "It is not an impossible goal, since there are still over 200 points in play. But more importantly for me, is to finish the season with some good results and continue to evolve the car for 2015. These races are very important and we will not leave anything to chance," concluded the Civic # 18 driver.
