Solid weekend for Josh Daley in Silverstone Supersport

It was another solid weekend for youngster Josh Daley at round 11 of the British Supersport Championship at Silverstone. The 18-year-old gained a strong seventh place in the opening Evo Sprint race on Saturday and was 13th Evo in the main race on Sunday.

Josh once again was on another learning weekend and each time he goes out on the bike he has made huge steps forward and big progression within the Championship. In the second practice session on Friday he managed to go 2.9 seconds faster than he has ever been around the superfast Silverstone track.

With the rain on Saturday, Josh was feeling confident in the wet conditions, he has always favoured the wet. However he was a little over eager in the qualifying session and despite putting in a strong time on only his second lap, crashed out on his third lap putting an end to his qualifying session. He started race one from 28th on the grid and had his work cut out but he rose to the challenge.

He got a good start and was up to seventh Evo rider after lap one and was dicing with fellow Evo rider Sam Coventry and they swapped places on several occasions with Josh ending up a position in front of him at the end of the nine lap race as seventh Evo and 17th overall, a great result for the youngster.

For race two he started from 25th on the grid, he got a good start and was up to 11th Evo rider and worked hard to keep pushing forwards, he was locked in a dice and dropped to 13th Evo but the team came out feeling very confident and happy to move on with their knowledge to the final round at Brands Hatch.

Josh Daley - "It was a great learning curve this weekend at Silverstone and I've gone so much faster this weekend than I ever have around there. We made some changes on Friday and they really worked well for me, I feel so much more confident leaving Silverstone and can't wait to get to Brands Hatch.

I think I got a little bit excited with the weather conditions on Saturday and crashed out early in the session and I know these things come with time, knowledge and experience and every weekend I am still learning and learning my limits.

I've really enjoyed the weekend and really pleased with the progress we have made, thank you so much to everyone that has helped us and hope we can raise the funds to get to Brands Hatch, if anyone would be willing to help me then please check out my SoFund page - http://sofund.co.uk/campaigns/josh-daley-racing/, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to my Dad, it's just me and him generally at the races and without his help and support I wouldn't be here, I'm so grateful to him for everything."
