Flashman Finneran will seek to end his first season of car racing on a high this weekend when the curtain comes down on his 2014 Kick Start Energy Ginetta Junior Championship campaign at Brands Hatch.
The Newmarket-based teenager heads for the famous Kent circuit with his confidence having been given a massive boost thanks to his results last time out at Silverstone.
There, the racing rookie bounced back from the disappointment of being tipped into a spin in race one to secure his maiden top ten finish in race two - with the 14-year-old displaying his undoubted potential in what was by far his most impressive drive to date.
Bouyed by his breakthrough result, Flashman will now seek to break into the top ten again in the season finale, which will mark his debut on the challenging Brands Hatch Grand Prix layout.
As has been the case throughout the year, Flashman will be competing at the track for the first time but goes into the event confident about his chances.
“I’ve never driven on the Grand Prix circuit before, so it will be interesting to see how I get on when the weekend gets underway,” he said. "I did get chance to do some running on the Indy circuit during a test and was starting to learn that part of the track, but the GP bit will be challenging.
"Before the weekend I'll be using the simulator at Cranfield University to learn as much as I can about the Grand Prix layout, but it’s hard to predict how I'll do too much until I get onto the actual track.
"My confidence is really high after my first top ten finish at Silverstone and I’d love to get another this weekend to end the season on a high. It would be a great way to finish the season."
