“Best Pit Stop Award” still wide open
Traditionally, the Hockenheimring hosts the final DTM weekend of the season. Although Marco Wittmann (BMW) has already been crowned champion and the BMW team RMG holds an unattainable lead in the team classification, spectators can look forward to a gripping finale. The fight for the manufacturers’ category is still in full swing between Audi and BMW. Mattias Ekström (Audi) is determined to defend his second place in the standings against Christian Vietoris (Mercedes-Benz, P3) and his marque colleague Edoardo Mortara (Audi, P4). Hankook’s “Best Pit Stop Award”, an unofficial pit stop championship presented by the DTM tyre partner in recognition of the best crew, will also be decided at Hockenheim.
Hankook’s fourth season as the exclusive tyre partner in the DTM turned out to be another great year. The premium manufacturer’s successful tyre trio – the ultra fast option tyre Ventus Race Plus, the durable baseline slick Ventus Race Prime, and the reliable wet tyre Ventus Race Rain – performed convincingly on all race tracks with their high performance and consistency as well as providing maximum safety. After a flawless season, the trio now head on to the finish straight of the season to celebrate their 40th official DTM race at Hockenheim. “The top performance of our products of course didn’t surprise me,” says Manfred Sandbichler, Hankook’s Motorsport Director for Europe. “In the run-up to our 40th official DTM race here at the traditional season finale at Hockenheim our teams can be proud of the achievements to date. After all, we’re competing here at the highest level in arguably the world’s best touring car series with the leading marques Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.”
