Victory at Nurburgring VLN Championship for Adam Christodoulou

The former British Formula Renault champion Adam Christodoulou made it onto the podium in an amazing display of grit in the penultimate round of the VLN Championship.Poor weather conditions caused round 6 and 7 to be cancelled. All fingers were crossed that round 8 would allow for some competitive racing!Nervously, round 8 started foggy at the Nordschleife, but luckily it cleared and had only delayed the day by 1 hour. Qualifying was tough, with many cars going off and getting damaged which caused plenty of safety car and limited the qualifying time. The team were happy to qualify car 195 in P3, with a time of 9:13.417, averaging 158.45kph.The start of the race went extremely well, Christodoulou moved straight into P2 and began battling with other cars for track position. It was a solid first run with a few caution zones from other incidents on track. The pit stop for tyres and fuel was seamless and car 195 remained in P2. The 2nd stint went extremely well too, by the end of this it was time for Andreas to jump in the hot seat for a stretch before handing back over to Christodoulou to complete the race. By this point, the lead in class had changed a few times and he was catching up to first place. Finally, with just 2 laps to go, Christodoulou made a move for the lead, culminating in victory at the end of the gruelling 4 hour race.

Christodoulou commented, “We were happy with the performance of the car and the team is over the moon with this very important win as the last race was cancelled due to the fog. We were fortunate that weather conditions today enabled a brilliant race for car 195 and the team.”This has got to be one of the hardest races in the VLN championship this year with all the chaos in the pit lane. The competition was extremely tough in the SP6 category with a few new cars entering this popular category. Christodoulou said, “It’s a great feeling to take the lead with just under 2 laps to go and come out on top by winning the day. The crew did a great job during all the pit stops and Andreas gave a strong performance as well. I’m looking forward to repeating our success in the last round in 2 weeks time.”
