BTCC test drive for Formula Ford star Jayde Kruger

Dunlop awards prize drive in Airwaves Ford Focus to the provisional championKruger set to join top BTCC team at Snetterton

After a season of success in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain, Jayde Kruger will later this month take the next step in his impressive career with a test drive at the wheel of an Airwaves Racing BTCC Ford Focus.

Jayde, 26, will take his Dunlop-provided prize drive at Snetterton on 29 October. He is scheduled to complete around 20 laps and will be mentored by Airwaves Racing driver Mat Jackson, a multiple BTCC race victor and the only driver to finish all 30 races in this season’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

South African Jayde, who provisionally clinched the Formula Ford championship title last weekend at Brands Hatch, is looking forward to the experience: “I haven’t driven anything with a roof over it since I was 17, back home in South Africa, so there is going to be a lot to learn but the prospect of driving a Dunlop BTCC car is really exciting. The BTCC is a fantastic championship and something I’d love to have a go at, but I am realistic about the chances of a deal dropping in my lap. You can always hope, though.”

Airwaves Racing team boss David Bartrum said: “Last year we were pleased to test Formula Ford drivers Dan Cammish and Harrison Scott, and they both showed great promise. We’ve been watching Jayde’s progress this season and he’s a very competent single-seater racer – I’m sure that he will adapt well to the Ford Focus.”
