Calendar revealed for 2015 R.A.C. Rally Championship‏

The schedule for the 2015 R.A.C. Rally Championship has been unveiled, with a programme of seven one-day gravel rallies and one asphalt event. The championship will be organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club and will run in parallel to the MSA British Historic Rally Championship, sharing the same infrastructure and organising team. While the BHRC will run at National ‘A’ level, the R.A.C. Championship will run as a National ‘B’ championship and will be a more club-level series. Importantly, alongside the traditional historic classes, the R.A.C. Championship will include classes for cars from up to 1990 running to period homologation as well as an Open Category for pre ’87 non-historic two-wheel drive cars. “We’re working with the MSA on the next generation of historic cars, up to the end of 1990,” said organiser Colin Heppenstall. “The R.A.C. Championship is the perfect place for this group to develop. It’s good for the sport to allow people who have got those cars somewhere to go rallying. We wanted to keep the R.A.C. aimed at clubmen and that is reflected in the calendar and the six-tyre rule.”An important development is that the 2015 R.A.C. Rally Championship will adopt a six-tyre rule for all contenders: crews may use no more than six tyres per rally. This initiative from the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club was introduced on the 2014 championship and proved to be a successful way of containing costs for competitors as well as making a contribution to reducing damage to gravel roads. The R.A.C series will share the BHRC dates, with just one exception: the Isle of Man Classic in September will be replaced by the Carlisle Stages on 13 June. The Carlisle Stages, organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club, has already been confirmed as round of the BTRDA Rally Series for 2015.The full R.A.C. calendar is:Sunday 1 February: Red Kite Stages Sunday 1 March: Mid Wales StagesSaturday 25 April: Pirelli RallySaturday 30 May: Severn Valley StagesSaturday 13 June: Carlisle StagesSunday 26 July: Harry Flatters RallySaturday 15 August: Neath Valley StagesFri/Sat 25/26 Sep: Trackrod Historic CupNote: subject to MSA approval
