Walker set for Roger Albert Clark Rally debut

Alan Walker and Jez Rogers will make their event debut on this year’s Roger Albert Clark Rally (28-30 November) and Walker says that contesting the event will be the realisation of a long-held ambition. The Shropshire crew will field Walker’s Ford Escort Mk2 on the Sunderland-based rally and it will be only Walker’s second rally this year as a driver. However, he has also co-driven successfully for several drivers including Darren Moon and Tim Pearcey.“I serviced for Will Onions and Rob Smith on the Roger Albert a couple of years ago, but I’ve never competed on the rally before,” said Walker. “We’re doing it on a budget and I’ve got mates helping. I’ve always wanted to do it and Meirion Evans at Wales Motorsport Fabrications is also helping with servicing.”“We really enjoyed the night stages on the Trackrod and that encouraged us to do the RAC,” said Walker. “The challenge of doing it on maps is a great leveller and I’ve only ever driven on one rally in Kielder. I watched the old RAC Rally as a kid and I did plenty of road rallies in my younger days, so I should be okay at night.”Support for the entry comes from Wales Motorsport Fabrications, Morris Lubricants and Mr Tyre.
