Forming Stage 14 of the WRC season finale, the 700-year-old National Trust property provided the perfect setting for families and fans to experience one of the UK’s premier sporting events first-hand.The huge field of international and national crews, combined with entertainment for all ages, created the perfect spectator experience. There was an aerobatics display by the Red Bull Matadors, supercar and historic rally car demonstrations, and a retail area featuring a strong presence from the event’s official car partner, Hyundai. These attractions complemented the short but spectacular 1.3-mile stage around the castle grounds, with Norway’s Henning Solberg recording the quickest time.A range of enhancements this year included a much improved traffic management system, expanded viewing areas and event better spectator facilities.Ben Taylor, Managing Director of Wales Rally GB, said: “This year Chirk Castle has been a stunning success. Having been somewhat caught out by spectator numbers last year, it was a real challenge to put right the problems to ensure the best possible experience this time round. Everyone involved worked incredibly hard to put new plans into action, from the team running the stage to the landowners and North Wales Police, who brought it all together in a controlled and smooth manner.“Everywhere I looked there were families and children with smiles on their faces, which is exactly what the RallyFest Stages are all about. The reaction was great, the setting was perfect and we look forward to building on that success next year.”
