Subaru becomes latest Vision Gran Turismo prototype for Gran Turismo 6

The “SUBARU VIZIV GT Vision Gran Turismo” is due to be released on Gran Turismo®6, available exclusively on PlayStation®3. This stunning prototype sportscar boasts the most aggressive vehicle specifications in Subaru history, while maintaining a level of drivability that delivers total control.

Through ‘Vision Gran Turismo’, Gran Turismo creators Polyphony Digital Inc. set out to create a revolutionary project that would be welcomed by car enthusiasts all over the world. Leading designers and manufacturers have embraced the project and provided a glimpse into the future of car design through concept cars and prototypes revealed in Gran Turismo 6. Subaru has chosen to create its ultimate sportscar for the dream project, carrying Subaru's concept car motto "VIZIV"; Vision for Innovation.

“Since we launched Gran Turismo 6 in December, 2013, we have released a number of Vision Gran Turismo models,” explained Gran Turismo’s legendary creator and President of Polyphony Digital, Kazunori Yamauchi. “However, each time we release a new concept model I feel a real buzz of excitement, like a child with a new toy. Many people will be aware of Subaru’s sporting heritage and so will be drawn to this stunning car. But equally, I imagine that it will also bring many new fans to Subaru through the game.”Inheriting the design language of Subaru's "SUBARU VIZIV 2 Concept" revealed in 2014, the Subaru design team have added dynamic and solid shapes to the model that visually express Subaru's pursuit of a safe and enjoyable driving experience, while its large diffuser, roof-integrated rear spoiler, and shooting-brake silhouette stand out for aerodynamic performance.Thorough weight reduction was a focus in the design of the body structure, and carbon materials have been utilised everywhere. As a result, the vehicle weight was held down to 1,380kg, despite being equipped with heavy batteries and motors. Propelling the light-weight body is Subaru's legendary 2-litre horizontally-opposed engine that has been fully tuned with years of motor sport experience. The direct injection turbocharged engine has been powered up with revised restrictor diameters and is combined with one high-power motor in the front and two in the rear, achieving a total system power output of 591 BHP and 800 Nm(82 kgfm) of maximum torque. By independently controlling each of the motor outputs, turning ability while cornering is drastically improved, while the torque vectoring lamps built into the fenders visualize its movement. The car will become available in Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3 with update 1.14. It will be purchasable within the Vision GT area of the game or obtained free by completing a lap of a new Subaru Seasonal Event in game.
