BRDC F4 to co-headline with British GT Championship in 2015

The BRDC Formula 4 Championship will share top billing with the British GT Championship at all six UK-based GT rounds next year, as well as headlining two other race meetings.

This new arrangement for BRDC F4 continues the tradition of the UK’s leading single-seater series accompanying the GT programme. The British F3 Championship previously ran on the same programme as GTs, but in contrast to British F3’s decline in recent years, BRDC F4 has boasted consistently strong grids and the most competitive racing in Britain.

Jonathan Palmer, Chief Executive of BRDC F4 promoters MSV, commented: “This is good news for both British GT and BRDC F4. Bringing the two together strengthens a package that is growing in popularity with spectators and recognises BRDC F4 as the country’s leading single-seater series. BRDC F4’s status has been strongly established since we launched it in 2013, with five McLaren BRDC Autosport Award finalists selected from the championship. With this strengthened race calendar, we’re looking forward to another great year in 2015.”

Stéphane Ratel, CEO of GT organisers and promoters SRO, said: “SRO is very pleased to continue to develop the Avon Tyres British GT Championship events with MSV and to welcome what is now the premier UK single seater series, the BRDC F4 Championship, to form an exciting new headline collaboration of GTs and single seaters, making up for the sad loss of F3.”

BRDC F4’s familiar race weekend format will be retained for next year, with one qualifying session and one race on Saturday and two races on Sunday.

The calendar for the British GT and F4 package will run from April to September, visiting Oulton Park, Rockingham, Silverstone GP, Brands Hatch GP, Snetterton 300, and Donington Park. Additionally, BRDC F4 will race on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit and make another visit to Snetterton.
