Auto GP set to excite the Motor Show crowd in Bologna

Although the cold season has finally come, opening the doors of the long winter season, Auto GP and the promoters of the Bologna Motor Show found a very effective way to warm-up the atmosphere of the 2014 year-end exhibition. The challenge will be very tense as the series, usually partnering the WTCC and DTM championships around the world, will land for the first time at the popular Motor Show Arena on Sunday, December 7. The single-day schedule will be featuring a practice session at 10:15 AM, while the knockout rounds among the six cars entered will start at 11:45 AM. The semi-finals will be at 13:30, followed at 16:30 by the final heat.

The 2014 Motor Show will also provide the championship with a great frame to award the 2014 champions. The prize-giving ceremony will be held, starting at 15:30, in Pavilion 30. The host will be Gimmy Ghione, a top Italian media personality who will also enter the race. In addition to being a popular sightseeing in the Italian satyrical news show Striscia La Notizia, Ghione is a car racing fan. After test-driving an Auto GP car last year at Vallelunga, he decided to be back on-track for the traditional Motor Show round.

Many other top competitors will be joining him, including 2014 regulars Michele La Rosa, Francesco Dracone, Salvatore De Plano and Michela Cerruti. The latter will also demonstrate her Formula E car to the crowd, while 2012 GP2 Series Champion Davide Valsecchi is set to make his series' debut. Currently working as an on-track reporter for Sky Sport Formula 1 HD, Valsecchi served as a reserve driver for Lotus F1 in 2013 and is about to take his first steps in IndyCar. Davide already sampled the recently-upgraded Auto GP machinery for a shakedown at Magione.
