Vojens to host FIM Speedway World Cup Race Off and Final

VOJENS TITLE DEFENCE FOR DENMARK

World champions Denmark will defend their title on home shale in 2015 as the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup Race Off and Final come to Vojens in June.

Fans who purchase their tickets before February 1 can save up to 40 percent† on entry to the Final on June 13 – one of the biggest events on the world speedway calendar staged at one of the sport’s most storied venues.

On top of that, they will also get free admission to the Race Off on June 11, which sees four nations battle it out to join Denmark and the Event 1 and 2 winners in the title decider 48 hours later.

The Danes clinched the Ove Fundin Trophy in dramatic style on August 2, when triple Danish champion Niels-Kristian Iversen passed Poland’s Janusz Kolodziej on the final bend in the last-heat decider at Bydgoszcz.

Australia finished just two points behind the Danes in third place and another epic battle is expected at Denmark’s national speedway stadium.

BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy said: “The Monster Energy SWC never disappoints when it comes to high drama and, although Denmark have home advantage, they will have to be at their best to retain the title.

“With national pride at stake, every rider seems to raise his game during the Monster Energy SWC and it truly is one of the most entertaining weeks on the speedway calendar.”

Ole Olsen, Denmark’s three-time world champion, said: “We have witnessed some great FIM Speedway World Cup Finals at Vojens, and with the Danish national team going from strength to strength, it’s great to have the meeting back here for the first time since 2010.

“The Danish team has a fantastic combination of youth and experience, led by world No.3 Nicki Pedersen and Niels-Kristian Iversen. But they only won the title by a point this year and will have to fight hard again to keep it. A great home crowd could make all the difference.

“I hope plenty of fans, from Denmark and beyond, take advantage of the early-booking discount and come and enjoy Thursday’s Race Off too. We look forward to welcoming the speedway world to Vojens once again.”

Standing tickets cost 200 DKK for adults, 150 DKK for OAPs, with under-15s priced at 75 DKK. A family standing ticket, admitting two adults and two under-15s costs 525 DKK and grandstand seats are available from 400 DKK.
