Gulf racing have announced they will once again return to the European Le Mans series in 2015, this year also hoping to add the legendary Le Mans 24hr race to their schedule of events.
2014 saw the team field a pair of GTE cars in the GTE-AM class in the ELMS with two marques, this year the team will enter only the Porsche 991 RSR for the full championship, with a focussed effort to fight for the title. Regular drivers Mike Wainwright and Adam Carroll will be joined in the Porsche by experienced Brit James Winslow for the full season while team drivers Roald Goethe and Stuart Hall will contest the WEC with AMR for 2015 in the Vantage GTE.
Team Principle & Porsche Driver Mike Wainwright commented ‘Personally I am very much looking forward to the new season which I believe will bring more opportunities and hopefully success on the track. We have a very well organised team who are desperate to show their true potential, I hope that in 2015 we achieve some of our goals. Racing again at Le Mans and with Porsche would be very special, hopefully that will become a reality’
Team Manager Matt Beers Said ‘We are very pleased to return to the ELMS with Porsche, its genuinely our goal to win the championship this year and we feel we have a strong enough package to do that, in addition we are hoping to also to participate in the 24 hours of Le Mans, bringing the Gulf Racing brand, with Porsche machinery, back to this fantastic spectacle, we are 4th on the reserve list for the event’.
Gulf Racing’s new driver James Winslow said ‘I'm very happy to be joining Gulf Racing in 2015, every driver wants to be with the best team and that is exactly what has happened here, Gulf Racing is an exciting team with very talented team members, I join two very good co-drivers with Mike & Adam, we are a very strong combination & I'm looking forward to getting the season underway, potentially driving at Le Mans 24 hours in a Gulf Racing Porsche will be special for us all! I thank the team very much, for this opportunity’
