JamSport confirms third Clio Cup entry with Tom Grundy

Seventeen-year-old Tom Grundy is the youngest driver to join the 2015 Renault UK Clio Cup grid to date after signing to race a third JamSport-entered car in the championship alongside the previously announced Dan Holland and George Jackson.

Grundy was born 9 September 1997, making him even younger than Rory Collingbourne (born 2 Sept ‘97) who has already been confirmed with the Team Cooksport squad. Coincidentally both drivers will graduate to the Clio Cup this year after competing in club-level Ford Fiestas – Grundy was runner-up in 2014’s hotly contested Junior category.

Notably Grundy is set to fly into Britain from his home in Dubai for each of the Clio Cup’s nine race race events in 2015.

The opening two races of this year’s 18-race Renault UK Clio Cup will take place at the world famous Brands Hatch circuit in Kent on the weekend of Sat 4th/Sun 5th April. All the races will take place during British Touring Car events meaning huge trackside crowds and live television coverage on ITV4.

Grundy said: “I am really looking forward to my first season with JamSport and I can't wait to get in to the car. It's going to be a bit of a learning curve at the start, but I'm sure I'll get straight into the swing of it from race one. I am looking forward to being with the other drivers on the team and sharing our experiences.”

JamSport Team Principal Sam Cotton added: “Tom is a great addition to our team being the youngest driver on the grid. I am looking forward to watching his progress throughout the season and I believe that once he has found his feet he will definitely be one to watch. Also having Tom on the team gives us another very important comparison for our other two drivers.”
