LEICESTER are seeking a new team sponsor after last year’s backers Rapid Solicitors were taken over. The new owners decided against continuing into the second term of a two-year deal and promoter David Hemsley is keen to find a replacement, having announced charity partnerships with Loros (local hospice care) and ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ which will be carried on the club’s race suits.Hemsley said: “In any takeover or merger there are bound to be changes that happen which is only natural as new people see things differently as to how a business is run and where the budget is to be allocated but the news still came as a shock.“Gate receipts alone these days are not enough for any sporting discipline to survive and grow and therefore I would be only too pleased to hear from companies who may be interested in learning more about what we can offer them in way of publicity and promotion of their products by becoming a sponsor of Leicester Speedway.”

It’s been an ongoing challenge and things have not happened as quickly as you might have expected.”
