LAKESIDE have announced details of the format for their opening meeting of the season as they pay tribute to the late Lee Richardson.The Remembering Rico Spring Classic on March 20 will feature the 2015 Hammers team taking on a specially-selected ‘Lee’s All Stars’ line-up headed by former Lakeside skipper Davey Watt and regular guests Rory Schlein and Scott Nicholls. The action will begin with a National League Pairs mini-meeting, and Heat 15 of the main event will see the winner receive the Rico Trophy. Pits viewing will be available all evening.Lakeside promoter Jon Cook said: “We're finalizing the full line-up over the next fortnight and after consulting Emma Richardson we are pleased she was in favour of putting two teams together on a weekend when the sport is overflowing with Individual events. “This is now an important part of the team’s preparations for the season and I know that Neil Vatcher is looking forward to going head to head with his old mate Phil Morris, who will be managing the All Stars. It's also great to be able to open up the Centre Green and pits for the night as it's been a feature of our practices in the past and this takes it to the next level.”


SHEFFIELD are throwing their weight behind Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice throughout the 2015 speedway season.The Owlerton side are set to carry the Hospice logo up and down the country as the ambitious club look to hunt down Premier League silverware.Co-promoter Peter Mole said: “We have visited Bluebell Wood on several occasions and you cannot help but feel humbled by the magnificent work of the staff and the facilities.“We also intend to offer our support to several events Bluebell Wood hold throughout the year, and we will send team members along to represent the club. It is also our intention to bring along children, parents and staff to Owlerton to experience the thrills and spills of modern day speedway which is a fabulous sport for people of all ages to enjoy.”
