THREE additional names have been announced for the Ben Fund Bonanza which is the curtain-raiser to the new season at Swindon on Sunday March 8.Robins star Nick Morris joins the Australian team for the event, with Polish hopeful Jakub Jamrog also competing whilst long-serving Australian Rusty Harrison, who stages his Testimonial at Workington on April 11, makes his debut in the meeting.Harrison said: “I realised that Paul (Ackroyd) might be looking for riders with all the visa problems. The Ben Fund meeting has been running for a few years now and I’ve just never had a chance to have a go in it before. “To get the opportunity to ride in it before I retire at the end of the season is fantastic. We’re thinking of heading home in November/December once we get a visa for my partner.”

SCUNTHORPE have moved for Dutchman Theo Pijper as a short-term replacement after receiving the news that Ryan Douglas will miss the start of the season due to injury.Douglas has snapped the tendons in his knee and is unlikely to be fit enough to ride until June giving Pijper, who rode for Glasgow last year, an opportunity with the Scorpions.Promoter Rob Godfrey said: “Ryan has got a similar injury to the one that Niels-Kristian Iversen sustained in the Grand Prix last season. He is recovering, but not soon enough for the start of the season, so we’ve signed Theo up until the end of May.“Theo is obviously a quality rider. You only need to look at the fact that he was riding at No.1 for Glasgow for a good chunk of last season and finished top of their averages. It was a big surprise to me that he was still available. This is a great opportunity for him to show that he should have had a team place in the Premier League all along.”
