Falla confirms Carrera Cup GB campaign

Jack Falla will be one of the new names contesting this season’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB after the Guernsey racer confirmed plans to race with the standard-setting Redline Racing team. He will be mentored by BTCC racer and fellow Guernseyman Andy Priaulx.Falla (26) started his competition in a short programme of Formula Ford racing in Australia in 2009. Later, he moved into the GT3 Cup Challenge Australia for 2013 and 2014, although he only did a part season in 2014 due to the travel involved in commuting to Australia.“This will be my first season racing in the UK and I intend to learn the circuits and get used to the car. I want to continually improve through the year,” said Jack. “I’ve not done any racing in the UK yet but I did do some GT testing in a BMW last year and we’ve now started testing the Carrera Cup car with Redline Racing.”Through family connections, Jack will be working with Priaulx through the season with the three-time World Touring Car Champion offering support and guidance at race weekends as he returns to the BTCC for the first time since 2002. The Carrera Cup shares seven of its eight race dates with the BTCC.Team boss Simon Leonard was delighted to confirm the programme. “I think Jack has a lot of natural talent,” said Leonard. “He has to learn all the tracks, but we’re already under way with a major testing programme and he’s showing good pace despite some very wet and slippery test days. We’re very pleased to have him on board.”Support for Jack’s programme comes from Bausele Watches, Vesaro Simulators, Illest and Nicky Grist Motorsport Ltd.
