After a first, quite positive Winterfest meeting last week at the NOLA circuit, where he claimed two pole positions, a front-row start and two podiums – the young French driver confirmed these fine performances during the second round at the Barber Motorsports Park, which was held on February 25th and 26th, with a podium but more importantly victory in the final race, which scored double. Results which made him the overall winner of the 2015 edition of the USF 2000 Winterfests! A good start for the Mazda Road to Indy ...
The reigning champion, CAPE MOTORSPORT with Wayne Taylor Racing, brought luck to the young ‘frenchie’ who put in a brilliant performance on these two first Winterfest meetings, with 4 podiums out of 5 races, and a total of 136 points, 4 more than his main rival.
With these fine results and first title, Nicolas is raring to go and is already counted among the leaders in the quest for the 2015 USF 2000 title.
The next meeting will be on March 28th and 29th, on the St Petersburg city circuit, 1.8 miles long and with 14 corners, where the first two races of the USF 2000 Championship will take place.
NICOLAS JAMIN : "The first report is rather positive. We did some good work over the Winterfests, with four podiums out of five, and victory in the race that scored double points, which gave me the championship. Before the start of the last race I didn’t really believe it in, and didn’t think such a result would be possible as I was quite a few points down. It was rather a crazy race, with lots of full-course-yellows. When the race started up again, four laps from the end, I knew that it was now or never, it was my big opportunity ! Franzoni was closing all the doors but I managed to take him by surprise round the outside. It was risky, but I had to do it !
Throughout these Winterfests, the car was really great and I would like to thank Cape Motorsport for their professionalism and their work, Crossing the finish line, I was delighted to have won the race, but I didn’t realize that I was the Champion of the 2015 Winterfests ! It was only afterwards, taking to an official when I came off the podium, when I asked who was champion, and they replied that it was me… and that was a moment of immense happiness ! "
