SWINDON stage the official curtain-raiser to the 2015 season on Sunday when the Ben Fund Bonanza takes place at the Abbey Stadium (4pm).The event, which raises vital funds for injured and permanently disabled riders, is now in its seventh year and last season’s staging at Leicester contributed £45,000.Organiser Paul Ackroyd said: “Someone said to me at the weekend that this is the most important meeting of the year. It should be one of the events that every rider and if possible supporter has in his calendar as one to be involved in.“Every rider knows that serious injury is possible in our sport and that could have a big impact on their lives. For some it already has. I can guarantee that every one of our ten paraplegic riders would give anything to be out on the track at Swindon racing.”

COVENTRY have moved to sign Polish prospect Jakub Jamrog to complete their Elite League line-up.23-year-old Jamrog takes the place originally allocated to Cameron Woodward before he was ruled out due to injury, with the Bees’ proposed signing of Lewis Bridger subsequently falling through.Promoter Mick Horton said: “I’ve talked to several riders who have either ridden with Jakuk or seen him race, and they’ve all said he goes very well in Europe.“I’ve also spoken to the lad himself this weekend and he is really, really determined and enthusiastic, and is also all set up to race here with equipment, workshop and mechanic. Havvy (Gary Havelock) has a good feeling about him, and we feel he is very much worth a shot.”
