Following his strong showings in ADAC Formel Masters, Ralph Boschung will shift up a gear in 2015 by joining JENZER MOTORSPORT to race in the ultra-competitive GP3 Series, which runs as a support event at selected FIA Formula One World Championship rounds.Having graduated from the 2012 Formula BMW Talent Cup with a win in the Grand Final, Boschung went on to secure 14 podium finishes and one victory in ADAC Formel Masters, making him the third-youngest winner in the series’ history. Indeed, 2014 saw Ralph secure a total of eight top-three results, including an impressive treble in Austria. For 2015 he joins the experienced JENZER MOTORSPORT squad, which has participated in the GP3 Series since its inception and boasts six race wins in the championship. The 17-year-old took part in a three-day post-season test with the Swiss outfit at Yas Marina Circuit on November 27-29. Boschung was immediately on the pace behind the wheel of a much more powerful car than his ADAC single-seater, appearing in the top 10 on the timesheets each day.In the space of five years, GP3 has rapidly grown into one of the most exciting junior series. As a support race at many European F1 rounds, it enables young drivers to demonstrate their talent under the watchful eyes of the paddock’s decision makers. In addition to this, GP3 travels to Abu Dhabi for its season finale, which takes place at Yas Marina Circuit on the same weekend as the FIA Formula One World Championship showdown.Ralph’s maiden outing of 2015 with JENZER MOTORSPORT is now just over a week away, with the first official GP3 test scheduled for March 18/19 at Estoril in Portugal.Ralph Boschung: “I’m delighted to be making my GP3 debut with JENZER MOTORSPORT. It’s a tremendous opportunity to race in a car that is quite different from any machinery I had ever driven before.“I am excited to be taking the next step this year!. My first test with JENZER in Abu Dhabi last year went really well and I’m looking forward to working with such an experienced team.“I am happy to be racing in a series as competitive as GP3, but I remain well aware that I’ll need some time to adjust to my new environment. Thankfully I can rely on a skilled outfit around me.“I would like to extend my warmest thanks to my main partner B63, who will accompany me throughout the year, as well Avanthay&Partners and other future sponsors. I am also extremely grateful to the ‘Club 50’ members for their valuable support.”Andreas Jenzer, Team Principal: “I’ve been following Ralph’s progress for several years now and first got in touch with his family when he was competing in the BMW Talent Cup. Ralph did very well in ADAC Formel Masters: he had a very good first season and then got a bit unlucky in his second campaign.“Then we spoke about doing a GP3 test. At first, he was slightly apprehensive about the step but we immediately understood that both his fitness and technical levels were already pretty strong, while he also showed a good understanding of the car.“Ralph was very, very impressive during those three days in Abu Dhabi, especially coming from a 140bhp car to a 400bhp machine. He was always near the top of the timesheets.“It’s always nice to see the Swiss flag flying high and we’re looking forward to a very successful GP3 season with him.”The opening round of this year’s GP3 Series takes place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on May 8-10 as a support event to the 2015 Spanish Grand Prix.2015 GP3 Series Schedule1.
