SPEEDWAY bikes will return to Perry Barr on Wednesday for the first time since last June.Birmingham, along with co-tenants Cradley Heath, are to hold their press and practice day with both clubs set to operate at National League level after the collapse of the Brummies’ former Elite League promotion in mid-2014.Birmingham manager Graham Drury said: “There has been a lot of hard work gone in at Perry Barr to get the place ready for Speedway once again and we are very much looking forward to it.“What’s gone is gone. COVENTRY Storm have named talented teenager Callum Walker as their official No.8 for the new National League season.Gloucestershire-based Walker was already on the radar of Storm bosses following his displays in the 2013 British Youth Championship, when he finished runner-up to his friend Zach Wajtknecht in the 250cc class, and he secured his squad place after impressing in a weekend practice session.Manager Laurence Rogers said: “I saw Callum ride at Newport several years ago and was quite impressed. Then I saw him in action at Leicester when he and Zach hired it for practice before they rode abroad.“He concentrated a bit more on his grasstrack and longtrack racing last year, but this season he wants to do speedway as well as that, and we feel he very much has the potential and is a kid of 16 who is worth bringing on.”
