Wednesday was the third and final test day for Sergio Canamasas in Abu Dhabi, where the first collective testing of the GP2 Series has taken place. The Spaniard completed sixty-eight laps working towards the perfect set-up with Hilmer Motorsport engineering team.
Sergio Canamasas has concluded his participation in the GP2 Series opening test week, taking place from Monday until Wednesday at the majestic Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Just like in the preceding days, the only Spaniard in the series has focused on set-up work throughout the whole day with the car entered by Hilmer Motorsport.
After completing sixty-eight laps, thirty-four per session, Canamasas clocked a time of 1:51.134 in the morning, improving his lap by setting another of 1:50.227 in the afternoon. At the end of this three-day marathon session, with hardly any time to relax, Canamasas completed 154 laps around the Yas Marina Circuit and left with the sense of a work well done. The driver born in Barcelona has made as much headway as possible with Hilmer Motorsport engineers.
“I think our week in Abu Dhabi could be defined as pure testing. We have tested innumerable set-up solutions. I would venture to say we tested almost everything is possible with this car!”, Canamasas underlined, remarking that “this week of testing was mandatory in order to know which direction to take. Now we need to review data collected and to reach conclusions. I am pleased with my work at Hilmer Motorsport, helping them with this essential task to prepare 2015 properly”.
GP2´s next stop takes places in Sakhir, at the Bahrain International Circuit, on 1-3 April.
